Cocurricular opportunities are experiential learning opportunities that contribute to gaining skills and abilities that are part of the core competencies, and/or outcomes established by the institution and its governing bodies. Extracurricular experiences are opportunities that provide students the opportunity to engage with the institution and that connect students to others within the community in meaningful ways. This white paper’s focus is on these two concepts and is organized around a series of five questions that are designed to address the challenges associated with engaging working professionals in cocurricular and extracurricular opportunities.
